Steve Kroft
60 Minutes Correspondent

Steve Kroft has been a part of CBS News for nearly three decades. Twenty of those years have been as a correspondent for 60 Minutes. His work has won the prestigious Renner Award, 11 Emmys (including a Lifetime Achievement Emmy) and three George Foster Peaody Awards.

Kroft’s “no-holds-barred” news stories have helped to shape the country’s thinking and history. His exclusive 1992 interview with then-Governor Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary, landed on the front page of almost every newspaper in the country. Many cite it as a defining moment in that presidential election.

Kroft’s coverage of Chernobyl in 1990 made him the first American journalist to be given extensive access to the contaminated nuclear plant in the Ukraine. Four years later he returned to be the first American reporter to enter the crippled reactor.

His chillingly prophetic “America’s Worst Nightmare” (October 2000) documented the involvement of the Russian mafia in the smuggling of nuclear materials out of the Soviet Union and ties to Islamic militant groups such as the Taliban.

At the podium, Steve Kroft will share some of the thought-provoking insights he's gained while meeting some of the world's most influential people. He’ll also offer insights into how news is reported and its often-profound impact on society.
