This season, we are changing two important aspects of The Economic Club. First, Upton Hall members may choose to purchase or not purchase dinners at meetings. Second, beginning Sept. 11, tickets to individual meetings will be sold to the public. Some meetings might sell out fast, so sign up now for your Upton Hall or Mainstage membership so you can guarantee a place at each of the meetings at the lowest price.

Upton Hall Membership

Typical Upton Hall Meeting Format
5:30 p.m. Doors open and cash bar is available until dinner. Seating will be open to all Dinner and Speaker-only ticket holders. It will be on a first-come, first-seated basis.
6:00 p.m. Dinner served by wait staff.
6:55 p.m. Broadcast of Mainstage Q&A
7:20 p.m. Speaker introduction in Grand Upton Hall.
Upton Hall Q&A: Begins immediately following the speech and is approximately 40 minutes.
All meetings are set to Michigan time. Please check each meeting announcement for potential variations in times.

Upton Hall Membership Dues

  • Annual dues are the same as last year: $195 per person.
  • You can purchase your membership through The Mendel Center Box Office either via:
    1. Phone: 269-927-1221, Monday-Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (except holidays).
    2. In person: Stop by Box Office located on the south side of The Mendel Center, Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (except holidays).
    3. Online. To register for your Upton Hall Membership, click here. This 24/7 service includes a convenience fee for each transaction.
  • Because The Club is using a new ordering system, all returning and new Upton Hall members will need to complete the registration information. If you are ordering more than two memberships at one time, we recommend that you call or go in person to the Box Office during their open hours. It should save you time and there are no fees for these Box Office services.

Upton Hall Patron Identification Number

Once you have registered for your Upton Hall Membership, each member in your household or organization will receive a membership or patron identification number on your membership payment receipt. You will use this number to order your Dinner or Speaker-Only meeting tickets at a member savings.

New Upton Hall Meeting Ticket Options

You must order a ticket to attend each meeting. We now offer two options:

  • Dinner Ticket: $23 each meeting. The wait staff will serve you a full meal at tables arranged in one portion of the hall. These tickets are available up until noon four business days before each meeting.
  • Speaker-Only Ticket: no additional charge. You will be seated in chairs arranged theater-style in the other portion of the hall. These tickets may be ordered up until the time of the meeting.

You can order your meeting tickets three easy ways

Thanks to a new arrangement with The Mendel Center Box Office at Lake Michigan College, you can reserve your Dinner or Speaker-Only tickets one of three ways:

  1. Call 269-927-1221, Monday-Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (except holidays).
  2. Come in person to the Box Office located on the south side of The Mendel Center, Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (except holidays).
  3. Go online. See step-by-step ‘How to order” instructions below. Following these steps will ensure that you get your member discount on your ticket order. This 24/7 service includes a convenience fee.
  • We will remind you of each speaker date two to three weeks before the meeting.
  • When you place your order you can buy tickets for a single meeting or for multiple meetings at once. You can choose to get your tickets via email, mobile or mail; or held for pick up at the will call window. There is an additional convenience fee to have your tickets mailed to you.
  • Will Call Pickup Times: On each meeting date the Grand Upton Hall Will Call Window opens at 5 p.m. Please arrive 15 minutes before the meeting to get your tickets.
  • Seating for all ticket holders will be on a first-come, first-seated basis.

How to order your Upton Hall Dinner and Speaker-Only tickets online

  1. Click here to enter the member ticketing page on The Mendel Center website.

  2. Select the speaker you wish to buy your tickets for.

  3. Enter your Patron ID number found on your confirmation email you received when purchasing your membership, and your first and last name exactly as they appear on your confirmation. If you receive a message saying, "No membership found for that combination of Patron ID, First Name and Last Name," one of these details does not match what was entered with your membership.*
    On the next page, click the drop box under “Qty.” Choose the number of tickets you wish to purchase up to the quantity of memberships you purchased.

  4. Click the drop box under “Price.” Choose either a Dinner ticket ($23.00) or Speaker-Only ticket ($0.00). Next, click Okay.

  5. Click “Select Delivery Option” drop box. Choose one of three options:
    Will Call allows you to pick your ticket up at The Mendel Center Box Office will call windows after the doors open for each meeting. There is no additional fee for this service.
    Print at Home allows you to get your ticket by email. You may either print the ticket and bring it with you to the meeting or present it on your mobile device at the meeting doors. There is no additional fee for this service.
    Mail tickets via USPS to your address. You will be charged a $5 fee.

  6. Next, click Proceed to payment.
    Complete the data fields on the payment information page. If you want to order tickets to see additional speakers, click “Keep Shopping” in the lower left corner of the window or screen. Repeat until all your desired tickets are in your shopping cart. If you want to order additional tickets for your guest(s), see separate instructions below.
    Complete the payment information fields and continue to the Process Order page. An additional online convenience fee will be included in your final payment total.

    *If you are having trouble with your online order, we recommend that you call 269-927-1221 or come in person to the Box Office during their open hours, Monday-Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (except holidays). The Box Office staff is happy to assist you with your order.

Mainstage Membership

Typical Mainstage Meeting Format
6 p.m. Doors open and members may enjoy a social hour with light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
6:55 p.m. 20-minute question-and-answer session with the speaker.
7:20 p.m. Speaker introduction, speech and 40-minute question-and-answer session(s) are broadcast live from Upton Hall on a big screen in the Mainstage Theater.

  • You can purchase your membership through The Mendel Center Box Office either via:

  • You will automatically get a ticket for each of the five speakers with your membership; no ordering necessary. You will need to present a speaker ticket at the Mainstage Theater door to attend each meeting.

  • You can choose to get your tickets via email, mobile or mail; or have them held for pick up at the will call window. There is an additional convenience fee to have your tickets mailed to you.

Individual Speaker Tickets

Now Available to the Public and Members’ Guests

This year the general public can order individual meeting tickets to see their favorite speakers. These tickets also can be purchased by members to bring guests. There are a limited number of these non-member tickets in each venue, so please order in advance. Sales for Upton Hall dinner tickets close at noon four business days before each meeting; all other tickets close at the time of the meeting.

  • Upton Hall Dinner Ticket: $88
  • Upton Hall Speaker-Only Ticket: $65
  • Mainstage Ticket: $50

  • Tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-honored basis. You can choose to get your tickets via email, mobile or mail; or have them held for pick up at the will call window. There is an additional convenience fee to have your tickets mailed to you.
  • Seating at the meetings is first-come, first-seated.
